Charles Manatt to Speak on New
Developments in the Western Hemisphere
December 13 in Washington D.C.
Charles Manatt, founder of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, Co-Chairman of Manatt Jones Global Strategies, LLC, and former U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, will speak on new developments in the Western Hemisphere and the International Business Council December 13 at the Firm's Washington D.C. office.
Ambassador Manatt will discuss new developments and their effects on the regional business community, the role of the ambassador overseas, the importance of the Caribbean Basin to the United States and general business opportunities in Latin America. The Greater Washington Board of Trade and Manatt Jones Global Strategies are sponsoring the event.
Ambassador Manatt began his legal career focusing on banking and financial services and served as President of the California Bankers Association. He also served as founder and Chairman of First Los Angeles Bank. He currently practices international, administrative and corporate law.
U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic from 1999 to 2001, Ambassador Manatt currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of George Washington University and is on the Boards of the Mayo Foundation and the National Legal Center for the Public Interest. He was the founding Chairman of the Democratic Institute, Vice Chairman of the National Institute for Democracy and Chairman of the International Foundation for Elections. He is the former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee and former Co-Chairman of the Clinton/Gore campaign.
